The Story Of Matariki

Not long ago, there were six sisters and one brother. They all had names. The oldest was Jorden. He was the boy, then Lily, Katie, Sarah, Jenna, Blossom and, the youngest of them all, Bella.
When Bella turned five, she got a pet bird. It was white with sparkles. She loved it. She named it Snow White. It would sing all the way home. It wasn't far to walk to the secret bird cage, but, when Bella got her bird, she saw a glitch of black with rainbow sparkles on its wings. The family had updated their birds.
Blossom lost her pale pink holo bird. It was a dizzy dazzling dancer. It would reflect in the sunlight, but it was weird because she would hang around the cage. She would only sleep, drink, eat, sing and dance, but she was acting weird later that day and Blossom didn't know why. Cherry, her bird, was acting weird.
It was becoming sunset. Jorden looked up at the night sky blanket. He saw Cherry's reflection. The stars started to appear. He saw her flying up to the six sisters, so she made it the seven sisters.

Catch That Snake !!!!!

WALT make up a story about a Pet Day problem.
WWBSWW:
  • Begin with an orientation to tell the reader who, did what, where and when.
“Pet Day will be on Friday,” Miss Anderson, Tom’s teacher, announced to the class on Monday. “Bring your pet to school and tell us about it, then we will have a pet parade.”
Tom was so excited. He would be able to bring Harry to school to
show everyone.
  • Write the events leading up to the problem.
At the end of the day, he ran all the way home to get his pet ready for Friday.
He loved Harry and had wanted to show his friends for a long time, but his mum and dad had told him that Harry must never leave the house; but, now, his
teacher had given him permission to bring it to school.
Smilingly, he polished Harry’s green silky skin, talking to it with his friendly voice. “You’re allowed to come to school, Harry. You can meet my friends and my friends can meet you.”
As soon as Friday came around, Harry carefully took Harry out of its cage and placed him into his black backpack. He couldn’t wait to get to school, so he ran
all the way.
When the bell rang, he and the rest of the class stepped into the
classroom.
  • Write the problem.
Tom opened his backpack to show his friends what he had brought to school for Pet Day.
“It’s a green, slippery, slimey …...................” he said slowly. “Snake!” he
shouted.
“Tom Denver, give me that thing right now!” Miss Anderson
commanded.
Tom opened his hand to pass it over, but, at that moment, naughty Billy Burton lunged to grab it himself. He bumped Tom’s shoulder and Tom hurtled forward, the snake flying out of his hand to the back of the classroom.
“Eeeeeee! Where is it?” squealed Miss Anderson.
Chaos threatened in Room 4.  Children jumped up and ran around, screeching
their lungs out and pushing over chairs and desks, trying to find Tom’s snake.

  • Write the events to tell your readers how the problem was solved.
Then one of the kids saw a glitch of green so she decided to gather all the kids' lunches. One kid had a ham sandwich.
"Thank goodness someone had some meat," said Mrs Anderson.
A kid found a way to catch the snake. Mrs Anderson got some clear plastic boxes to put the meat in. Tom made a path and put more plastic boxes. Mrs Anderson rushed and climbed the last desk to be safe. All the rest of the desks were used to trap Harry.
Tom caught Harry. Mrs Anderson was relieved to not have to search day and night.
- Great title!
- You have finished off well, with your last sentence, Makayla.
- Well done on using speech.
- Keep working on writing the events clearly to the solution.

The Two Magic Shows

Where is the orientation? The reader wants to know what this is about. When, who, did what, where, why. What hall? Who is we?
When we got into the huge hall, we saw a magician wait for lots and lots of children. His name was Jonathon. He was very funny. When he asked a child what colour his favourite was, he said red, so he gave him a blue balloon and did a smiley face with it, then a sad face and then some horns then the really funny part was he bit the balloon and was holding the parts that he bit and said, "These are the horns I like."
After that, we had lunch but we had it earlier than we usually do because there was another magic show starting after lunch.
All the kids were waiting patiently for El Gregoe, and his assistant, Sue was there too, to help. He was funny too because when he dropped a card, he said that was the floor show. It was funny, but the best part was the floating man. It was kind of funny because it was meant to be called the floating woman and he was floating. Sue proved he was floating when she put her hand over him and under.

Pentecost

The Church is people spreading the Good News about Jesus.

Before Pentecost, the followers of Jesus hid in a dark room. Jesus sent the Holy Spirit down to them, then they had flames on their heads and they could hear the wind. They went out and started to spread the Good News. It was the birth of the Church. That day was called Pentecost.
